Inspired by historical rune traditions — a beautiful take, not a museum catalogue.
Unlike a plain rune translator, we don’t just swap letter for letter. Each era has its own logic — phonetics, spelling habits and how words were actually carved.
1. Elder Futhark ᚷ
The oldest runes — 24 characters, almost magical. Perfect when you want that raw, original look.
2. Long-branch (Viking Age) ᛅ
Classic Viking runes. Phonetic feel and fewer characters — the style that sits beautifully on skin or wood.
3. Short-twig ᛆ
Shorter strokes, more everyday Nordic. Same era as the Vikings, with a quicker hand.
4. Modern Runic ᚵ
Extended with stings (dots) so modern spelling fits — e.g. K → G with a sting (ᚴ → ᚵ). Based on Kalle Runristare’s system.
